I was angered to read that Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has ruled that the use of Ynysangharad Park for parking can go ahead, despite well-voiced opposition from the public and local politicians.
In England, the UK Government is awarding councils £89m to restore neglected parks as part of their sustainable development plan, recognising the importance
town parks play in maintaining the local ecology.
I call on our councillors to look at what other towns are doing before embarking on a project that could be the beginning of the end of Pontypridd as an ecologically
balanced shopping destination.
